I am now selling my favorite scissors and hoop here
in my web shop. If you need either of them, please add
them to your cart and I will ship them in June with
the Daisychain ABCs
crewelwork sampler kit.
These are my favorite embroidery scissors. They are
made by the Bohin company, which has been making sewing
tools since 1833 in Normandy, France. They sort of
have a heart shape and I love hearts.
This is my favorite embroidery hoop. It is made in
Germany by Hardwicke Manor of finely sanded beechwood
with rounded edges and heavy-duty brass hardware.
I use the 4" size for almost everything, because
it fits best in my hand. Cheap balsa-wood hoops cannot
compare to a nice one like this.
You don't have to wrap the inner hoop with twill
tape if you are using a well-made hoop, but it can
be a nice thing to do if your hoop is a little bit
rougher and you are worried that the hoop will leave
blemishes on your fabric when tightened. To wrap the
hoop, pull the twill tape tightly around the inner
hoop, overlapping the previous edge at a 45-degree
angle. I will take a photo of this and post it here
soon.
